Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Vertane ("we," "us," "the app") is a habit-recovery app built by a solo founder. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what control you have over it. We built Vertane to be discreet and privacy-respecting by design — this policy reflects that.
1. No account signup required
Vertane does not require an email address, phone number, or password to use. When you open the app for the first time, we automatically create an anonymous account for you. We do not know your real-world identity unless you choose to tell us (e.g., a name you type in, or an email you send us directly).
2. Information we collect
- Profile information you provide: a display name (optional, can be anything), your streak start date, your "why" for using the app, and answers to an onboarding check-in about your habits and goals.
- Usage data: which daily actions you complete, when you use the in-app "SHIFT" feature, your mood check-ins, and your progress (XP, level, badges).
- Recovery-related data: dates when you log a "reset" (a relapse), used only to power the app's own no-shame progress tracking — never to shame or penalize you.
- Accountability Partner data (optional, Premium feature): if you invite a partner or accept someone else's invite, a narrow slice of your status — your streak, whether you completed today's action, and your level — is shared with that specific person. We never share your relapse history, mood check-ins, or your private "why" notes with a partner.
- Device information: general technical information (device type, operating system) needed to make the app function correctly.
- Face ID (optional): if you turn on App Lock in Settings, Face ID authentication happens entirely on your device through Apple's own system. Vertane never receives, sees, or stores any biometric data — only a simple on/off setting is saved.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or browsing history, and the app has no camera, microphone, or photo-upload features.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only to operate the app: to show you your progress, personalize your daily suggestions, and (if you opt in) send you a daily reminder notification. We do not sell your information to anyone. We do not use your information to train AI models — Vertane does not use AI in any part of the app.
4. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase, a cloud database provider, encrypted at rest. Access is restricted at the database level so that only you (your anonymous account) can read or write your own data — this is enforced by the database itself, not just the app.
5. Third-party services
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles anonymous sign-in.
- RevenueCat and Apple — process subscription payments through the App Store. We do not see or store your payment card details; Apple handles that directly.
We do not currently use any analytics or advertising tracking SDKs (e.g., no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel) inside the app itself. If that changes in the future, this policy — and Apple's App Privacy label — will be updated to reflect it before the change ships.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data: at any time, in Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and everything tied to it. There is no way to undo this, and no way for us to recover it afterward.
- Reset your progress: Settings → Danger Zone → Reset All Progress clears your history without deleting your account entirely.
- Turn off notifications: Settings → Smart Reminders.
- Contact us: Settings → Contact the Founder, or email getsteadwell@gmail.com directly, for any question about your data.
7. Data retention
We keep your data only for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account), your data is removed immediately and permanently — this is not a soft-delete or a 30-day grace period, it happens as soon as you confirm.
8. Sensitive nature of this app
Vertane is a habit-recovery app and the information you enter may be sensitive. We built the app's entire design — anonymous accounts, a discreet name and icon, no public profiles, no community feed — around protecting that sensitivity. We ask that you treat any Accountability Partner connection you make with the same care.
Some of what you enter — including your check-in answers, mood logs, and reset history — may qualify as "sensitive personal information" under California privacy law. We only use this information to run the app's own features (your progress tracking, your daily suggestions, your Accountability Partner status). We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating Vertane for you.
9. Your privacy rights (including California)
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use any advertising or tracking SDKs in the app.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you.
- Delete your personal information (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account gives you this instantly, without needing to ask us).
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information as described in Section 8.
- Non-discrimination — we will never treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email getsteadwell@gmail.com. Because Vertane uses anonymous accounts, we may ask you to verify your request in a way that matches how we identify you in the app (for example, a name or detail tied to your account).
10. Children's privacy
Vertane is rated 18+ and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data: getsteadwell@gmail.com
Vertane is built and run by one person. If anything here is unclear, or you want to know exactly what we hold about you, just email and ask — you'll get a real answer.
