Please read these terms carefully before using Vertane. By using the app, you agree to them.

1. What Vertane is

Vertane is a habit-recovery app that helps you replace a compulsive behavior with a small daily action, and tracks your progress without punishing you for setbacks.

2. Not medical or professional advice

Vertane is not a medical device, a therapy service, or a substitute for professional help. It is a self-directed habit-tracking tool. Nothing in the app should be read as a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or medical advice. If you are in crisis, or if you believe you need professional support, please contact a licensed therapist, doctor, or a crisis helpline — Vertane is not equipped to provide that support and is not a substitute for it.

3. Accounts

Vertane creates an anonymous account for you automatically; no email or password is required. You are responsible for your device and for keeping it secure (we recommend turning on Face ID Lock in Settings, especially on a shared device).

4. Subscriptions

Some features (Premium) require a paid subscription, billed and processed through the Apple App Store. Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial unless canceled at least 24 hours before it ends. Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown at the time of purchase unless canceled. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's App Store account settings — Vertane cannot cancel it for you directly.

5. User content

Anything you type into Vertane (your name, your "why," custom actions) is yours. We store it to provide the app's functionality and do not use it for any other purpose. If you invite or accept an Accountability Partner, you're choosing to share a limited set of your progress with that specific person — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what's shared.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use Vertane to harass, impersonate, or harm another person — including an Accountability Partner. Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the app or its backend. We may suspend or terminate access for violating these terms.

7. Intellectual property

The Vertane name, logo, and app design are owned by Rocco Emiliano Ruano, operating as a sole proprietor. Your own content (as described in Section 5) remains yours.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Vertane is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will help you achieve any particular outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

9. Dispute resolution — arbitration agreement

Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.

You and Vertane agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the app will be resolved through binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court.

Class action waiver: You and Vertane agree that disputes will be brought only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.

This arbitration agreement is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest of it still applies, except that the class action waiver cannot be severed from the arbitration requirement.

10. Termination

You can stop using Vertane and delete your account at any time (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, except where the arbitration section above specifies otherwise.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
